The Jersey Shore and surfing are essentially synonymous, so Ocean Casino Resort‘s ongoing partnership with South Jersey Boardriders is a natural fit. South Jersey Boardriders is a non-profit organization that works to provide amateur based team competition for boardrider clubs throughout South Jersey, with a mission of community, culture, and conservation.
Earlier this week, the Boardriders, who take inspiration from the world famous Australian Boardriders Clubs by providing inter-club competition, hometown pride and charitable works, volunteered their time to teach local kids from Atlantic City and the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City the fundamentals of surfing, ocean awareness and safety protocols. Both the kids and volunteers got to enjoy a delicious lunch on the beach, courtesy of Ocean’s culinary team.
The children had a wave-filled, educational day, and got to go home with their own wet suits courtesy of South Jersey Boardriders. In accordance with Ocean Casino Resort’s ongoing $15M reinvestment into the community, a donation of $10,000 was made to the South Jersey Boardriders so the organization can continue their mission to mentor, educate, and provide charity for beach communities.
South Jersey Boardrider’s Surf & Safety Lessons was Ocean Casino Resort’s second event with the organization this month. On Sunday, June 6, the Boardriders held their inter-club surf competition on the beach directly outside of Ocean Casino Resort, with over 220 participants from eight different clubs. Following a fantastic day of surfing, over 100 of the Boardriders celebrated the competition with family and friends overlooking the sparkling Atlantic Ocean at Topgolf Swing Suite in Ocean Casino Resort.
