Game 1 begins on Tuesday, July 6th at the Phoenix Suns Arena with the home team currently listed as 5.5 to 6 point betting favorites, depending on which of the best NBA betting sites you use.

The Suns are led by Chris Paul and Devin Booker, who are the top two names in the NBA Finals MVP odds boards. Meanwhile, the Bucks will bank on two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and All-Star Khris Middleton. The problem for the Bucks is that Antetokounmpo suffered a knee injury in the previous series and his status for Game 1 or the succeeding games is the NBA Finals is unknown.

The main reason why the Suns are currently favored to become the next NBA champions is the uncertainty surrounding Milwaukee’s two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, who hyper-extended his left knee during Game 4 of the Hawks series.

There’s no word yet on Giannis’ status for Tuesday’s Game 1 although it was previously reported that he would’ve been available if the Hawks won Game 6. Going by that line of thinking, there’s a good chance that Giannis will be available in Game 1.

How Many Games Will the 2021 NBA Finals Have?

According to the BetOnline App, the 2021 NBA Finals is favored to go over 5 ½ games at -190. The odds of the series ending in six games is the same as it going the full seven-game route and both are currently the shortest at +190. Meanwhile, the odds of a new champion being crowned after five games is at +250 while the odds for a four-game sweep are the longest at +600.

Those odds aren’t a surprise since 12 out of the NBA Finals series since 2000 have gone at least six games, including four out of the last six championship series. Six NBA championships since turn of the century were won in five games while only three champions were crowned via sweep.

Interestingly, the odds of Phoenix winning the the series in five games and seven games are the odds on favorite at +375 each. Meanwhile, the shortest odds in favor of the Bucks is Milwaukee winning 4-2 which is currently priced at +475. The longest odds for either team is a sweep, with Phoenix’s at +800 and Milwaukee’s at +2500.
