Aaron Rodgers Says He’ll “Figure Things Out in a Couple of Weeks”

Aaron Rodgers Jeopardy Host And Packer QB

Aaron Rodgers’ future with the Green Bay Packers remains uncertain.
In a Saturday interview with NBC, Rodgers said he will “figure things out in a couple of weeks”.
The Packers are tied with the fifth best odds to win Super Bowl LVI and the the third best odds to win the NFC conference.

The latest update on Aaron Rodgers is well, no update at all.

NBA Sports caught up with Rodgers playing golf at the celebrity-filled America Century Championship in Nevada last weekend and asked the NFL’s 2020 MVP about his plans for the coming NFL season.

According to Rodgers, he’ll figure things out “in a couple of weeks”:

With the Packers expected to report to camp on July 27th, the timetable that Rodgers gave could be spot on with the start of training camp. However, in the absence of a concrete decision from him, Green Bay’s preseason odds and chances for the 2021 season remain uncertain.

The offseason began with Rodgers determined to extend his tenure and possibly finish his career with the only NFL team he’s ever played for. Despite all the rumors floating around, online sportsbook SportsBetting.ag had Rodgers as the massive -1000 betting favorite to take the Packers’ first snap in Week 1. However, the offseason is almost over and he’s still undecided about what he wants to do this year. Until Rodgers and the Packers resolve on how they will proceed, Green Bay will continue to lag in the odds boards.

Green Bay finished the 2020 NFL season with a 13-3 record, earning the top seed in the NFC. However, the Packers lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-26 in the NFC championship game, bowing out of the conference finals for the second straight season.

Despite finishing with the best record in the AFC conference during the past two seasons, the Packers only have the third best odds to win the AFC with defending champions Tampa Bay (+300), Los Angeles Rams (+700), and San Francisco 49ers (+700) having better odds than them at SportsBetting.ag. Green Bay is also tied with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens with the 5th best odds to win Super Bowl despite Rodgers coming off an MVP season.

Jordan Love Says He is Ready

If ever Rodgers does not return to Green Bay, then back-up Jordan Love says that he is ready to start for the Packers in week 1. Love got his baptism of fire at the Packers OTA’s last month and had his moments. But whether Love is regular-season ready remains to be seen.

The 22-year old is the oddsmakers’ betting favorite to be the Packers’ starter if Rodgers will not be around next season. Love was Green Bay’s 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the pick they traded up to select, and the same pick that reportedly ticked off Rodgers and changed the way he looked at finishing his career with the Packers.

There is no animosity between Rodgers and Love. In fact both had a good relationship during the 2020 season and Rodgers affirmed it in a SportsCenter interview last May. It’s the organization and their decision-making that Rodgers is at odds with and that’s what makes his situation tricky. Here’s hoping that he’ll figure it out soon so that everyone involved will know where they stand.
