Hermosa Beach, California. This beachfront wonderland is in the South of Cali, full of beach goers who love the city life of Los Angeles, but still have the urge to wake up to the sound of waves crashing on the shore. It’s beautiful!
It was Labor Day long weekend, so we wanted to see what Americans got up to on this day. So Gab, my Mum and I set off for Hermosa Beach to go check out ‘Fiesta Hermosa’. This festival has over 300 vendors there ranging from art & craft, to food stalls, jewellers, sculptors, animal farms and fashion stalls, all the while with concerts and people dancing away right on the beach front.
Fairgoers flock here every year for this festival because of its great value for money and high quality goodies. And of course a fiesta wouldn’t be any fun with out rides and GAMES! I’m such a big kid, I always have to win a toy.
The aim of the game was to throw the banana toy at the balloon to try and burst them. Sounds hard but all of the balloons had nails behind. I couldn’t resist.
SUCCESS! I won! Next were the rides, but if you can see behind me all the rides were for children. I was a little sad, because thanks to Gab I have just recently fallen in love with roller coasters. But there were none at the festival, so we set off to find my Mum who we had lost while I was busy playing the game. (and lol, yes, my glasses are crocked in this photo).
I found my mother hat shopping! Hat shopping and baby shopping for my niece. This is just an example of some of the gorgeous hand crafted stores there were here. It was so hot out but Fiesta Hermosa was packed with all walks of life. This fiesta has been going since 1972! Can you imagine! No wonder it was so big!
It was so hot we treated ourselves to SHAVED ICE! Now who doesn’t love shaved ice, it was so much fun I felt like a kid again. As the sun climbed higher and higher into the sky all I kept thinking was, WHY DIDN’T I BRING MY BIKINI???
After eating our way through the fiesta, we stood on the pier people watching, we were so entertained. This beach was long and deep, and in every direction there were volleyball games happening, swimmers and cyclists. As we all strolled back to the car, Mum and Gab chatted and bonded, while I took secret photos of them (but I think the knew).
To wrap things up, our labor day was jam packed with walking, playing games, eating junk and bonding. A perfect start to our long weekend if you ask me. If you’re looking for something to do next Labor Day & Memorial Day check Fiesta Hermosa out, you won’t be disappointed.
It’s a magical world.
